Bergen is surrounded by seven fjords and is
therefore an excellent starting point for diving trips. Both fauna and
flora of the Norwegian seas are rich. You can expect to see the most
common kinds of fish such as a cod, tusk, herring, mackerel, saithe,
pollack but also a wolf-fish or anglerfish. If you are a fisherman, you
can as well catch the fish while diving. Except for lobsters, catching any
kind of a fish or crab during diving in Norway is allowed.
Season for diving is all year and due to the low water temperature, a dry
water costume is used. While the temperature is more pleasant during the
summer, the visibility under the water is slightly worse as the plankton
is growing. |

For those, who already have a diving
licence, we offer diving trips from a boat each Saturday (beginners) and
Sunday (advanced divers). Start is from a diving base, where you can rent
the equipment and warm up in a sauna after the diving. The Norwegian
guides speak English and the trips last about 3 hours. Upon request, the
guided diving trips can also be arranged on other days.
For those, who want to begin with diving, the
diving centre near Bergen offers an approximately one-week course. It
includes theory and practical diving in a pool and successful participants
of the course will get an international diving licence.
Price for the diving course in 2005: from NOK 4.500. It includes the
course fee, books, licence issuing, medical check-up and obligatory basic
equipment (masque, snorkel and flippers).
